The Studio
We're not your typical architecture firm, and that's kinda the point.
Started back in 2012, our practice grew out of a simple frustration - seeing too many beautiful buildings that just didn't work for the people using 'em. We figured there had to be a better way, one that didn't sacrifice functionality for aesthetics or the environment for convenience.
Today, we're a team of twelve designers, architects, and sustainability consultants working out of Vancouver. Most of our projects are across BC, though we've done work in Alberta and even a couple down in Washington State. What ties everything together? An honest approach to sustainable design that doesn't feel preachy or compromise on what actually makes a space feel right.
Our Philosophy
Look, sustainable architecture has become this loaded term. Everyone's throwing around green credentials like candy. But here's the thing - we've been doing this since before it was trendy, back when clients would raise an eyebrow at passive solar design.
For us, sustainability isn't about checking boxes or hitting LEED targets. It's about designing buildings that'll still make sense in fifty years. Buildings that breathe with their environment, that don't cost a fortune to heat or cool, and that people actually want to be in.

Every site has its own story. We spend time understanding the land, the light, the neighborhood before we even sketch a single line.

We're kinda obsessed with how things are built. The right material in the right place can transform a space from good to unforgettable.
People First
Buildings aren't sculptures. They're lived in, worked in, experienced daily. If a design doesn't serve its users, it's just decoration.
How We Work
We're pretty hands-on from day one. Initial meetings usually happen on-site because you can't really understand a project from photos and property lines. We'll walk the land, talk about how you live or work, what frustrates you about your current space, what excites you about the possibilities.
Then comes the fun part - design development. We don't disappear for weeks and come back with "the answer." It's collaborative. Lots of sketches, models, conversations. Some of our best solutions have come from casual conversations over coffee rather than formal presentations.
Once we're building, we're there. Not just for the big milestones, but those crucial moments when something needs to be figured out on the fly. Construction's where design either comes alive or falls apart, and we make sure it's the former.
